ScanPay

Use case: Unattended Car Parking

Turn available land into a parking business that earns 24/7/365.

Molly's Campervan Parking lets drivers scan, choose their stay, enter their vehicle registration, and pay on their own phone. ScanPay confirms payment, issues the parking ticket and exit code, and keeps the site operating without staff intervention.

Unattended parking without staff or an EFTPOS terminal

Drivers complete payment on their own supported device using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. Landowners can operate open-field, secured, overflow, event, or occasional parking without a staffed payment booth.

Hourly, daily, overnight, and multi-day parking

Offer predefined stay options from one QR code. The selected duration controls the price, parking ticket validity, and access instructions delivered after payment.

Vehicle registration and receipt email

Capture vehicle registration as the parking reference and collect the driver's email address for receipt and ticket delivery.

QR parking tickets with automatic expiry

Issue ScanPay-generated tickets, uploaded ticket codes, or a fixed access code. Configure ticket validity in minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months and extend a ticket when authorised.

Warden scanning and mobile validation

Wardens can search by vehicle registration, scan and redeem one-time tickets, or repeatedly validate a parking permit until expiry using a private assigned staff page.

Exit codes and compatible boom gates

Show a fixed entry or exit code only after successful payment, rotate it when required, or send signed webhook data to compatible boom-gate and access-control hardware.

Live parking dashboards and mobile alerts

Display registration, stay, amount, time, ticket status, and payment status on a trusted live screen. High-priority device notifications with sound can alert the owner or staff when a new stay is purchased.

Receipts, branding, terms, GST, and reporting

Provide a receipt webpage, email receipt, or PDF. Add parking branding, instructions, terms, GST information, and named tracking QR codes for separate gates, fields, signs, and partners.

Frequently asked questions

How does unattended QR parking work?

The driver scans the entrance QR code, chooses the required stay, enters their vehicle registration and email address, then pays on their own phone. ScanPay confirms payment and issues the configured parking ticket or exit code.

Can I start a parking business on private land?

ScanPay provides payment, ticketing, validation, receipt, and alerting tools. The landowner remains responsible for zoning, resource consent, rates, insurance, health and safety, signage, accessibility, tax, and local requirements.

Do I need staff or an EFTPOS terminal?

No. Drivers pay on their own device using a supported card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, so the site can operate without a payment attendant or outdoor EFTPOS terminal.

Can ScanPay work with a boom gate?

Yes, where the gate controller supports an API, webhook, relay, or compatible access integration. A fixed access code, QR ticket, or manual warden check can be used when direct automation is unsuitable.

How does a warden confirm a vehicle has paid?

The warden can search the mobile validator by vehicle registration or scan the driver's QR ticket. A ticket can be repeatedly validated until expiry or redeemed for one-time entry or exit.

Can an access code be changed?

Yes. A fixed access code can be rotated from the payment-page controls, and the updated code is shown after future successful payments.

What happens when a parking ticket expires?

The ticket automatically becomes expired at the configured time. A warden can see that status, while an authorised seller can extend the ticket or add another allowed scan when required.

Where does the parking payment go?

Payments are processed directly through the parking operator's connected Stripe merchant account. ScanPay does not collect or hold the driver payment.
